Creative Inspiration

What better way to get back into my passion for digi-scrapping than to create a layout of my gorgeous grand daughter. Studying my Diploma in Graphic Designer has left me very little time to create for fun lately, don't get me wrong I am enjoying myself studying, I love the challenge of learning new things, and boy have I learnt heaps over the past year! But sometimes I need to just 'make stuff' for the hell of it.
One of those times was this morning.  Whilst blog hopping I cam across the fantastic Krista Sahlin and her amazing Sahlin Studio site. Krista's designs just called to me, and I had to immediatley download some of her fantastic product and start creating.

Using her wonderful 'I'll Love you Forever" kit I created this layout of Miss Ellie....

Hello Sweet Baby - products from Sahlin Studio.

Let's Just Jump Ahead to September,,,,

OK, I admit that I haven't been around here much lately, but I still manage to spend hours on my laptop everyday of the week! Whether I am digi scrapping (usually for my CT position over at Jen's Word Art World blog) or learning more about PhotoShop, or just randomly Stumbling on the wealth of creative randomness on this big wide web, I always find something to do that gets in the way of blogging.
I've been creating a lot of hybrid items lately. I found I was missing the 'tactile' joy of holding my creations in my hand. I found that I could use the wonderful digi art and wordart from Jen's blog, as well as the many other sites were digi is available, and print them out to use on my cards.

Here is one I created with Jen's August 'Roughin' It' pack (available at her Word Art World store at Gotta Pixel.
Isn't that squirrel so cute? I created a little 'mini layout' in PhotoShop Elements using the squirrel, part of the tree and some blue digi-paper for the background. I added a border and then flattened the image. I then simply added the image to a Word document and printed it out onto some white cardstock. I had some scrap paper and ribbons that matched perfectly.

Here is another from Jens 'Roughin It' kit:

Once again I created mini layout to print and add to my card. This time I used the log cabin and tree elements, as well as the green and blue digi-papers. I even printed out a small strip of Jens stripped digi paper from the kit to coordinate. To give the card added depth I printed the little red bird out separately and attached him with sticky foam to make him pop. Ribbons and punched music notes finished the card of beautifully.

More of my hybrid creations tomorrow :)

Gotta Grab It over at Gotta Pixel ...

Here are two layouts I made using the fantastic range of products from Jen's WordArt World store at Gotta Pixel. These Easter items are due to be released on the 9th April and are just perfect for all those chocolate eggs and Easter hunt photos that we all have.

I used Springtime is Felt Word Art Pack, Eggs-tradordinary WAP,Spring Blossoms Alpha Pack, Bits of Spring WAP and Jen's April Papers. Aren't they great! Pop over to Jen's shop and see what other eye-candy she has for you.

Seems like Yesterday...

This beautiful kit is from Life Tapestry collaboration by Jen's Word Art World and Silvia Romeo. It is available now at Gotta Pixel.com. It is so 'not me' but I am really happy with the way my layout turned out. Just goes to prove it is worth stepping out of the box occasionally. I'm hoping to digitise some more old photos of my family and make more of these gorgeous antique layouts.
Hope you like it
